Carson and Goodger, incorporating Alba Pearls, are an independent business, situated near Kirkcudbright, the Artist Town of Scotland, in the stunning, unspoilt countryside of Galloway.

Galloway forms the most south westerly part of Scotland, looking out to the Solway and the Irish sea . It is a remarkable place, filled with beautiful and diverse landscape, a place of amazing history dating back as early as the Iron Age, where it is said the first human beings set foot in Scotland, arriving by boat on the Galloway shores, excited to explore the new land.

We gain our creative inspiration from the dynamic landscape we live in, from the endless beauty in simplicity that nature brings, and the phenomenal natural wonders that surround us every day.

 

Pearls are an amazing example of nature’s miracles…

Whilst people adore their pearls, many have no idea about the incredible mystery behind these extraordinary jewels. Pearls are living, breathing gems and have so much to offer in terms of history and their uniqueness in the world of jewellery.

Very importantly, they are the most ethical of all gems. In pearl farming, for an oyster or mussel to create a stunning pearl, it needs to be nurtured, appreciated and the health of it's home and surroundings are vital. Pollution and rising sea levels, destruction of coral reefs and other aspects of Climate Change are all hugely destructive for the growth of these gems. So for us, when we see a stunning pearl and realise that mussels and oysters are still miraculously making these unique gems, it means that there is hope for our beautiful world and it's future.

 

Rebecca Carson, founder of Carson and Goodger, completed her Diploma in Pearl studies at the Gemology Institute of America (GIA) and studied pearl stringing with Maria Schiavi, who is regarded as the most sort after pearl stringer in the UK.

 

Christopher Goodger co founder of Carson & Goodger, has over forty years of experience in sourcing and selling high value estate jewellery in London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai and the USA.
